In 1975, Barbara's began what is now is wholesale distribution business, by purchasing large quantities of products from manufacturers and redistributing them to other beauty supply stores who didn't want to invest in full cases of each sku, or couldn't meet manufacturer freight minimums; they could simply call Barbara's and order only what they needed!
By 1979, the success & growth of the wholesale business required Barbara's to move to much larger warehouse & office space in nearby Bellflower, CA.
In March 2000, Barbara's Beauty Supply was acquired by National Beauty Group, Inc., who over time, renamed and made the Barbara's Beauty stores part of its KB Beauty Supply division exclusively servicing salons.
Barbara's Beauty Wholesale Distributors now ships products to beauty supply stores nationwide from its state-of-the-art distribution center near San Francisco, CA, and from its Southern California warehouse, telephone call center & corporate office complex in Lakewood, CA.
The company's Downey store is still operating today.
